In a dream I saw a situation of one of my past relationships where I was trying to make it work out, but to no avail. This is a dream which I have had with other scenarios also, but it has always ended in a dead end and he always went with another woman. Then the dream changed scenes where I was now seeing a woman going to jump off a tall building from a balcony. I am instantly by her side and try to stop her but end up going over with her. As we are falling we are not falling to our death, but I am showing her steps to take as we are literally going down the building holding onto stable things and make it to the ground unharmed. Then the thought, "God wants me to help others" came and I woke up with a joyful attitude.
"It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others." (Ephesians 2:10 LB)
God calls you to a service far beyond anything you could ever imagine. You were put on Earth to make a contribution.
You weren’t created just to consume resources — to eat, breath, and take up space. God designed you to make a difference with your life. You were created to add to life on Earth, not just take from it. God wants you to give something back.
The Bible says, “In our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). These “good deeds” are your service to the world. Whenever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God and fulfilling one of your purposes (Colossians 3:23-24; Matthew 25:34-45; Ephesians 6:7).
What God told Jeremiah is also true for you: “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work" (Jeremiah 1:5a NCV).
When most people think of this "special work," they think of pastors, priests, and professional clergy, but God says every member of his family is to minister. In the Bible, the words "servant" and "minister" are synonyms, as are service and ministry. If you are a Christian, you are a minister, and when you’re serving, you’re ministering.
Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t just immediately take us to Heaven the moment we accept his grace? Why does he leave us in a fallen world? He leaves us here to fulfill his purposes. Once you are saved, God intends to use you for his goals. God has a ministry for you in his Church and a mission for you in the world.
PRAYER TO HELP OTHERS
Father, in the name of Jesus, I will do unto others as I would have them do unto me. I eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] (agape) love — I purpose to make it my aim, my great quest in life.
In the name of Jesus, I will esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] my own interest, but also for the interest of others as they pursue success. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I will make it a practice to please (make happy) my neighbor, (boss, co-worker, teacher, parent, child, brother, etc.) for his good and for his true welfare, to edify him — that is, to strengthen him and build him up in all ways — spiritually, socially, and materially.
I desire to imitate my Heavenly Father, and as a child of light, I will walk in love and wisdom. Help me to encourage (admonish, exhort) others and edify them.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I love my enemies (as well as my business associates, fellow church members, neighbors, those in authority over me) and am kind and do good — doing favors so that someone derives benefit from them. I lend expecting and hoping for nothing in return, but considering nothing as lost and despairing of no one.
Thank You, Father, for imprinting Your laws upon my heart and inscribing them on my mind — on my inmost thoughts and understanding. According to Your Word, as I would like and desire that men would do to me, I do exactly so to them, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
