The Holy Spirit Power

God's desire is to abundantly pour out His Spirit with dreams, visions and prophesy on all flesh (Joel 2:28) And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

While in prayer in a Church group I was engulfed within the Flame of the Holy Spirit. A voice asked what I saw, I said "Fear". Then the voice asked, Who is fearful? I said, "The Church". Then the voice asked, Fearful of What? I said, "The Battle".

The "Baptism of Fire" is only mentioned in two places in the Bible:

"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." (Matthew 3:11)

"John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."" (Luke 3:16)

Jer 5:22 (NIV) "Should you not fear me?" declares the Lord. "Should you not tremble in my presence?"

In Hebrew, yirah (Jon 1:16, Ps 90:11), yare (Mal 3:16) and pachad (Job 3:25a, Ps 119:120) mean reverent fear, terror, or dread, normally translated simply fear. There are other words in Hebrew for mere respect, reverence, or honor, such as kabad (Ex 20:12). In Greek fear/terror is phobo (Mat 28:4,1 Pet 2:17c), where reverence or honor is timao (1 Pet 2:17a/d).

"Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the LORD to you, "Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's." (2 Chronicles 20:15).

Our battle is "not against flesh and blood " (things in the natural realm), "but against ... spiritual wickedness." "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal ..." (2 Cor. 10:3-5 and Eph. 6:12)

DECLARING THE KINGDOM WHERE JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

WHAT IS FEAR? - Fear: an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger, an instance of this emotion, a state marked by this emotion, anxious concern, solicitude, PROFOUND REVERENCE AND AWE ESPECIALLY TOWARD GOD, reason for alarm, danger. Do you have profound reverence and awe towards God?

FEAR, DREAD, FRIGHT, ALARM, PANIC, TERROR, TREPIDATION mean painful agitation in the presence or anticipation of danger. FEAR is the most general term and implies anxiety and usually loss of courage; DREAD usually adds the idea of intense reluctance to face or meet a person or situation and suggests aversion as well as anxiety; FRIGHT implies the shock of sudden, startling fear; ALARM suggests a sudden and intense awareness of immediate danger; PANIC implies unreasoning and over-mastering fear causing hysterical activity; TERROR implies the most extreme degree of fear; TREPIDATION adds to DREAD the implications of timidity, trembling, and hesitation.

FEARFUL, APPREHENSIVE, AFRAID mean disturbed by fear. FEARFUL implies often a timorous or worrying temperament (the child is fearful of loud noises) APPREHENSIVE suggests a state of mind and implies a premonition of evil or danger (apprehensive that war would break out) AFRAID often suggests weakness or cowardice and regularly implies inhibition of action or utterance (afraid to speak the truth). (How about that preachers, are you afraid to preach the truth? Are you more afraid of man than of God?)

HOW ABOUT FEAR MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE? - Fear is used frequently in the Word of God. Some definitions of fear are terror, sorrow, tremble, fright, REVERENCE, dread, rage, anger, timid, afraid, pain, caution and horror.
Reverential fear means fear, fearful, dread, terrible, terror, that ought to be feared, be afraid, reverence, be feared, be had in reverence, terrible acts, terrible things, fright, make afraid and put in fear. The number of times that reverence means fear is significant.

SHOULD WE RESPECT AND/OR FEAR THE LORD? - In recent years, I have told people not to fear the Lord or to be deathly afraid of Him but to have enough respect for God that they would obey His Word. Satan causes many Christians to fear lost salvation and implies that God is a harsh God that wants to hit people with a big stick as soon as they do anything wrong. Instead of respecting God, they fear God. We need to fear the judgments of God. God is holy and righteous, and will not compromise His Word. Do you fear the judgments of God?

We should respect God's Covenant, Commandments, Ways, Statutes, and Being. Ps. 74:20 - Have respect unto the covenant. 119:6 - When I have respect unto all thy commandments. 119:15 - And have respect unto thy ways. 119:117 - And I will have respect unto thy statutes continually. Isa. 17:7 - And his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

Some of the Body of Christ want to dwell on the God of Love and not the God of Judgment. God's Love is balanced with God's Judgment. Most people do not want to think about God's Judgment. We want to think about God's Love and what He will do for us. We do not want to think about what is our part of the Covenant with God and what we are supposed to do for the Lord.

This study has indicated to me that we need to have a very healthy respect and fear for God and His Holiness. We actually need to have somewhat of a fear for God so that we don't take Him and His Word lightly and casually. We should fear God in the manner indicated in the Bible. Do not take God for granted! Do you?

ARE THERE BENEFITS FROM FEARING GOD? - Is there a positive side to fearing God? Absolutely, there are many benefits that accrue to the person that fears God. That person will work at keeping God's commandments and will be blessed rather than cursed.

The list of selected scriptures used above indicate that we can have peace, be encouraged, be strong and of good courage, fear not nor be afraid, not fear other gods, houses are safe from fear, be instructed in wisdom, will be honored by God, fear no evil, receive the secret of the Lord, takes pleasure in those that fear Him, have strong confidence, drink at the fountain of life, be happy, have rest, be written in the Book of Remembrance, perfecting holiness through fear of God, and work out our salvation.

We can have rest, peace, calmness, sleep and quietness that comes from God. To obtain these benefits, we must respect and reverence God; and dread His Judgments. Do you have the peace of God that passes understanding?

FAITH, TRUST AND LOVE OF GOD - We need to be fearless: free from fear. We do not need to be fearful, apprehensive or afraid. Perfect love casts out fear, I Jo. 4:18. Perfect love of God drives away fear of man and fear of what will happen to you. For God hath not given us a spirit of fear, II Tim. 4:8. (Try singing this verse over and over again to dispel fear.) Demonic fear comes from Satan, not God. Shall He not much more clothe you, Matt. 6:30. Do not be fearful about what you shall eat or drink, or how you will be clothed. Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith, Matt. 8:26. Have faith in God and get rid of your fear.

Nervous habits stem from the emotion of fear. For the Christian, nervous habits stem from the lack of faith and trust in God and His Provisions. They stem from trusting in yourself or man rather than God.

What are you hiding from? What are you afraid of? Did your parents abuse you as a child? Does your husband or wife mistreat you? What have people done to you to cause you to fear others or things?

SHOULD WIVES FEAR THEIR HUSBANDS? - Eph. 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. In this verse, reverence (phobe) means to be terrified, afrighted, afraid. Here is a good verse for you women to ponder; are you reverencing your husband? If not, what are the consequences to your marriage and family? Earline-Erma-Patti do you fear your husbands: Gene-Glen-Kevin?

SHOULD HUSBANDS LOVE THEIR WIVES? - Col. 3:18-21 Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. These four little verses are the keys to a perfect family in God. For you husbands, this love (agapao) is the Love of Christ. Eph. 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. This verse spells it out clearly for you men; you know what Christ gave for the church - his life. Gene-Glen-Kevin do you love your wives: Earline-Erma-Patti?

I Jo. 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love cast out fear.
Gen. 43:23 - Peace be to you, fear not.
Deut. 1:21 - Fear not, neither be discouraged; 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them.
Isaiah 14:3 - The Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear.

Pentecost is for Now

The Holy Spirit will take us up to other places in visions (Ezekiel 11:24) Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

After Church some of us stayed in worship while the congregation had left.  We were all enjoying singing praises to the Lord.  As I was watching I could see something on top of the musician on stage.  I realized what I was viewing was the Holy Spirit Fire.  It just sat above the young musicians head and then quickly grew and engulfed the young lady singing and she feel to her knees.  As I watched in amazement at the movement, its like I was in a trance.  The Anointing didn't stop there, but continued around the room to each of us.

I have wondered why it did not happen while the congregation was there.  I do know that each person standing there was involved in another ministry of the church.  I would say that we were each given an extra dose of anointing from the Holy Spirit to help us with our ministry.

The Pentacost Story

Like the rush of a mighty wind ...

Acts 2:1-20

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power."

All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine."

But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: "In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

-Debi Webster Perry-

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is bigger than just tongues. Expect the fullness of the Holy Spirit.  Acts 19:1-6

While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”

They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”
“John’s baptism,” they replied.

Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

What to expect with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

1. Expect Supernatural Wisdom
Acts 6:10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.
The Holy Spirit gives you wisdom how to take care of challenges in your family and witness.

2. Expect to Receive the Release of His Perfect Love
Expect the supernatural love of God.
Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

3. Expect All the Fruits of the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

4. Expect All the Gifts to be Instantly Deposited Into Us
I Corinthians 12:8 - 10 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

The Holy Spirit equips you. You can expect to meet the need of those around you. Covet the best gift that is in the situation at that moment.

5. Expect the Strength to Live a Consecrated Life
The Holy Spirit becomes that power. Read Romans 6 in its entirety. Expect a life of worship, a life of reading your bible, and a life of His intimacy. It is easier to live a Holy life.

Revelation 12:11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.

6. Expect the Ability to Resist and Defeat Your Enemies
Expect the ability to resist and defeat your enemies - Satan, sin, and self. Only a Christian with the Holy Spirit's supernatural anointing can expect a brand new ability. Sin is your enemy. You can not keep sin and you together. It is like a magnet, if you put both ends together they resist each other. We receive a new ability to defeat Satan.

7. Expect to Live in Unity with the Body of Christ
After the Baptism of the Holy Spirit you can expect to live in unity with others in the body of Christ. They will know we are Christians by out LOVE.

8. Expect to Live the Rest of Your Life on Earth with POWER
Power to cast out demons, to witness, to worship in a way that we have freedom.
-Bits and Pieces of sermon from Tim Davis-

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." (Acts 1:8)

This promise of our Lord signaled the beginning of the immense change from the old covenant to the new. Prior to the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:16) on the day of Pentecost, the saints of God were empowered both selectively and infrequently.

We, however, upon whom the "better thing" has come (Hebrews 11:40), are all temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Since we have been "quickened" (made alive) by the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 3:18), we surely should then "walk in the Spirit" (Galatians 5:25). What then is the dunamis (power) that the Holy Spirit provides to us?

Obviously, the power comes from the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit Himself (Ephesians 3:16-20). Our flesh has "no good thing" (Romans 7:18) to provide for an empowered, Spirit-filled life. Apart from the dwelling of God’s Spirit in us (Ephesians 1:14), we would be unable to live righteously (John 15:5).

But thanks be to the omnipotent and omniscient Creator that the Holy Spirit gives us gifts to use in Christ’s assembly to mature and to encourage each other (Ephesians 4:7-16). The Holy Spirit also grants us the ability to develop His "fruit" in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Then, with the encouragement and maturity we gain through our churches, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit being obvious in our daily lives, the great privilege of sharing the gospel with the lost becomes a delightful exercise of "power" (Romans 1:16) that is clear, not only in careful words of testimony, but in and through a life empowered by the Holy Spirit (1Thessalonians 1:5). -Power of the Holy Spirit by Henry Morris III, D.Min.-

Heavenly Father, You are the Lord of Lords, the God of God's, Your greatness goes before you. We thank you for Your Son, Jesus. We thank you for Your mighty Holy Spirit. We thank You for Your Spirit Breathed Word.

Jesus, You said, dunamis power of God will come upon us when we receive the Holy Ghost, (Acts 1:8). You said in Ephesians 1:17, that we are to pray for the revelation of the greatness of your dunamis power toward us who believe. We are asking you for it now. We ask you to give us the revelation of that dunamis power. We ask you to give us the manifestation of it. We desire to receive this dunamis power "for this and this alone will meet the necessity of the human heart and this and this alone will have the power to overcome the forces of darkness." We've reached this hour and we do believe that things have shifted and things have changed and that there will be a great move of God on the earth -- a great manifestation of the power of God through the sons and daughters of God. And we are asking you for it right now. And we believe it right now. We believe that we are the sons and daughters of God and that we can receive that power and walk in it daily by looking to you as our source. We receive that power now by faith and we walk in it daily. Show us how to manifest that power on behalf of others in healings, miracles, signs, and wonders. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Flood Gates of Heaven

God's desire is to abundantly pour out His Spirit with dreams, visions and prophesy on all flesh (Joel 2:28) And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

While in a prayer meeting, each person was being prayed for and being built up with encouragement, in the spirit man. It was my turn and someone spoke over me, saying you are searching for something. There is a gate which has a lock on it, and you don’t see it, you keep going past it. "God is opening that gate". At that moment, in the spirit realm, I heard a very loud sound of rushing water, like a huge waterfall. It was exciting because my spirit knew I had found what I was searching for and now had the understanding. It was sweet jubilee.  -Debi Webster-

The story below is what I found while searching scripture on "The Flood Gates of Heaven", which I named my experience that night. It moved me and I would like to share it with you.

Open the Flood gates of Heaven

Can History Repeat Itself? Whenever God opens the windows of heaven he has more than just material goodies in mind. Whenever the heavens are opened, God calls us to another dimension of perception and insight. This is a vital understanding of the rain released from open heavens. God’s promise in Joel 2 about the rain of the Spirit in the last days is denoted by new levels of revelation dreams, visions and prophecy. As Joel prophesied, “I will pour out my spirit on all people, your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions” (Joel 2:28).

The opening of the heavens is a cue to witness spiritual reality. John the Baptist saw the heavens open and the Holy Spirit descend upon Jesus. Stephen, the first martyr saw the heavens open to reveal Jesus seated at the right hand of God. The apostle John saw a door standing open in heaven and he was invited to observe a panorama of God’s kingdom.

The opening of the heavens is not solely God’s responsibility; it is something that we can provoke. At a time when Israel was suffering the horrific effects of closed heavens stemming from the Lord’s disfavor, the prophet Elijah was able to build an altar and unlock the heavens over his nation. Elijah was a man of like passions subject to the same limitations and frailties as the rest of us. The apostle Peter holds him up as a model of effectual fervent prayer.

Elijah’s construction of a proper altar which provoked the rain of God’s presence is a symbolic depiction of the power of an accurate prayer lifestyle in unlocking new dimensions of insight. The promise inherent in that episode and proclaimed by the apostle Peter is that we can unlock the heavens over our nation today.

As we ask for rain in springtime, let us realize that a door now stands open in heaven. And like the apostle John we are being invited to enter new levels of insight, intimacy and access into divine mysteries. The open door in the heavens also speaks of a door of opportunity to receive a divine blueprint for living effectually and powerfully with accuracy like Elijah. And in so doing open the floodgates of heaven.

The apostle blesses God for comfort in, and deliverance out of troubles.

We are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. The Lord is able to give peace to the troubled conscience, and to calm the raging passions of the soul. These blessings are given by him, as the Father of his redeemed family. It is our Savior who says, Let not your heart be troubled. All comforts come from God, and our sweetest comforts are in him.

He speaks peace to souls by granting the free remission of sins; and he comforts them by the enlivening influences of the Holy Spirit, and by the rich mercies of his grace. He is able to bind up the broken-hearted, to heal the most painful wounds, and also to give hope and joy under the heaviest sorrows. The favors God bestows on us, are not only to make us cheerful, but also that we may be useful to others.

He sends comfort enough to support such as simply trust in and serve him. If we should be brought so low as to despair even of life, yet we may then trust God, who can bring back even from death. Their hope and trust were not in vain; nor shall any be ashamed who trust in the Lord. Past experiences encourage faith and hope, and lay us under obligation to trust in God for time to come. And it is our duty, not only to help one another with prayer, but in praise and thanksgiving, and thereby to make suitable returns for benefits received. Thus both trials and mercies will end in good to ourselves and others. -Author Unknown-

בּרךbârak (baw-rak')

בּרך bârak (baw-rak')
A primitive root; to kneel; by implication to bless God (as an act of adoration), and (vice-versa) man (as a benefit); also (by euphemism) to curse (God or the king, as treason): - X abundantly, X altogether, X at all, blaspheme, bless, congratulate, curse, X greatly, X indeed, kneel (down), praise, salute, X still, thank.

God the Creator
"Creator God, I praise you because you made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you'. . . . " (Nehemiah 9:6).

When the Holy Spirit speaks to you and actually says, to kneel and give God the praise for what He has done, do you reluctantly accept the word given?

Being a newbie to the Holy Spirit's ways can be a trial and error experience. To listen to or not to listen. The question you may find yourself asking each time He speaks is, "Was that the Holy Spirit?" When He prompts you to do something which glorifies the Lord God Almighty, I have found, do it quickly.

The Holy Spirit is a gentleman, He will not tell you to do anything that will harm you. On the contrary our bodies may not want to because of some hidden pride inside and it may be a test you need to pass, are you willing to let Him work in you? Oh, yes these human bodies are not accustom to the ways of the spiritual, supernatural realm and so it becomes a trial and error in giving God the glory for the things He does in your life.

I remember the prompting the Holy Spirit first gave me about going to my knees. I delayed and walked a few steps but then obeyed. I went down on my knees and thanked Him for what He had just done. Being thankful enough was just not going to cut it that time I had to learn to be more humble and go to my knees.

Then another time, while in prayer one Sunday with someone else, I had been seeking prayer in agreement for healing. At the end of the prayer we came in agreement to have a "Jesus' Blood Transfusion". The moment the request for it was asked, I felt and saw, dark red, coming over me and as it covered me completely I went quickly to my knees. I remember having the filling I could not get low enough because He, Jesus was so worthy of all my Praise and all the thankfulness I could display. For me it was a very humbling moment, but yet a very wonderful and beautiful one, knowing the prayer was answered. We do have one Amazing God, He is always Amazing me, and I will forever be giving him all the Praise He deserves.
